And the same thing happened in the UK with Brexit. The press (or at least the left wing side) tried to paint everyone who voted for it as a xenophobic bigot and the option of staying in the EU as the only sane one. Guess what? It backfired there too; Britain voted to leave the EU earlier this year.
So yeah, I guess you could say GamerGate was round 1, Brexit was round 2 and the 2016 presidential election was round 3. What was that saying about doing the same thing twice and expecting different results again?
