I suspect banning a book will increase its sales further down the line. After all, how many people likely checked it out simply because it was previously ‘forbidden fruit’? Likely a fairly large number of them.

If it suggests anything, it’s that the best way to kill a horrible book or worldview is not to ban it but either explain full well why it’s wrong or simply not give it the attention.
